RSS PROBLEMS

...lots of them.

And the ironic thing is, I realize most of you aren't even reading this!

Thanks to those that have emailed me about the problems they have had with my RSS feed. They are the product of my sloppy, fat-fingered code. I have a friend helping me fix a few lines; I have deleted a few lines; and I'll let you know when my feed will work again.  Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

UPDATE: It looks like I have gotten the bulk of the problem cleared up. Feeds should be valid and updating now. If they're not, then you're not reading this via RSS...

Taking a Break...

I really haven't done much blogging since we moved to Vancouver, so it seems humorous for me to announce that I'm taking a break...but that's what I'm doing.

Over the next few months I'm finishing up my work at Regent, going to Alaska, and moving to Little Rock, AR. I need to give myself some space until those three things get finished. I'm not really keeping up with blogs right now either, so if you're getting married or having a kid or announcing something earth shattering in your life, you're going to have to do it the old fashion way and call me. I don't read Twitter.

Don't go deleting this feed just yet! I have some ideas I'm really excited about- not just in terms of things I'm actually eager to write about, but also a few ideas I have to change things up around here and make them interesting again. But I've got to get my thesis out of the way before I do any of that. I'll keep the lights on for those that want to troll the archives.

In the meantime, you can check out what I'm posting to del.icio.us, keep tabs on my growing photography addiction, or buy me a gift...

See you later in the summer...

Quote of the Day

Nothing confirms the immediacy and the immaturity of the blogosphere than seeing an undergraduate publicly rebuke John Piper for his critique of N.T. Wright on justification--before seeing the manuscript!

Justin Taylor, in reference to the comments on this post. Made my day and it's not even 6:00am!

Biblio

Looks like folks were bored while I was on vacation...

1. One book that changed your life: John Piper, Desiring God

2. One book that you've read more than once: Richard Baxter, Reformed Pastor

3. One book you'd want on a desert island: Augustine, Confessions

4. One book that made you laugh: John Kennedy Toole, A Confederacy of Dunces (have read it more than a half dozen times and I laugh out loud the entire way through. My favorite novel of all times.)

5. One book that made you cry: Sarah Williams, The Shaming of the the Strong (the most moving book I recall reading in years)

6. One book you wish had been written: Essential Reading For Church Planters Under Forty (2 Vol)

Vol 1: "Masculinity" Defined
Vol 2: What it Means to Say that Jesus' behavior was "Prophetic"

7. One book you wish had never been written: Hal Lindsey, The Late Great Planet Earth

8. One book you're currently reading: David Wells, Above All Earthly Pow'rs

9. One book you've been meaning to read: Larry Hurtado, Lord Jesus Christ: Devotion to Jesus in Earliest Christianity

Attention Aspiring Photographers & "Friday Photo" Types

Earlier in the summer, I felt inspired to follow Joe & Steve's example by featuring one of the pictures I had taken during the week on my blog each Friday (not because I possess a fraction of their skill in photography, but because I thought it was fun).

As the number of people continues to increase that are posting "Friday Photos" on their blogs, I wanted to make it easy for us to aggregate all the "Friday Photo" entries in one location. Enter the new Friday Photo Group @ Flickr. I've set it up as an open group (eight members so far), and all are welcome to join and post one picture each Friday (read the rules here). Now, instead of cluttering up your Friday photo with thirteen links, you can just link the Friday Photo Group. Spread the word.

Please Update Your Feeds!

Feed-Icon-64X64If you're using an RSS aggregator, please delete my old feed and update it with this one.

This feedburner feed will enable me to track things a bit better on my end, allow you to add posts to del.icio.us straight from the feed, and track co.mments.

In summary: Delete my old feed. Replace with my new feed

Thanks & Good Night,

THE MANAGEMENT

Bloggers at Resurgence?

Resurgconf

I know that there are a bunch of bloggers headed to Resurgence that I'm looking forward to meeting in person. Within that big list, I am especially ecstatic that Chant will be making the trek to join us.

Is anyone interested in a bloggers get-together (let me assure you, going to a bloggers meet up is not going to make you any more of nerd than you already are), say after one of the evening Q&A's?

If folks are interested, I'm willing to set things up. Does Hales have a side room we could reserve? If lots of people are staying in the same hotel, perhaps we could set something up there.

[Random Resurgence Rumor: Pete is planning on attending the entire conference in the costume of a medieval bard]

New Blog Design

I have had the all black design for over a year now (a switch from the all grey that almost gave Daling a seizure) and decided it was time for a new look. My new banner is a picture that Katie took today at a burned out house we found just off 4th Ave and MacDonald St.

Malcolm Gladwell is Blogging

Malcolm Gladwell's Blog (& he's a typepad user!)
Mtg003 Sm

In the past year I have often been asked why I don’t have a blog. My answer was always that I write so much, already, that I don’t have time to write anything else. But, as should be obvious, I’ve now changed my mind. I have come (belatedly) to the conclusion that a blog can be a very valuable supplement to my books and the writing I do for the New Yorker. What I think I’d like to do is to use this forum to elaborate and comment on and correct and amend things that I have already written. If you look on my website, on the "Blink" page, you’ll see an expanded notes and bibliography, which mostly consists of copies of emails sent to me by readers. Well, I think I’d like to start posting reader comments for everything I write, and this is a perfect place for that.
There are also times when I think I’ve made mistakes, or oversights, and I’d like to use this space to explain myself and set things right.
